As the Director of TOGÜ Disaster and Emergency Application and Research Center (AFAMER), our school's Civil Defense and Firefighting program instructor, Lecturer Mustafa YILDIZ, paid a series of official visits to the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD).

As part of the visit program, meetings were held with Abdülkadir Tezcan, Director of Risk Reduction and Planning at AFAD, and Recep Şalcı, Director of Education at AFAD. During the meetings, assessments were made on academic studies aimed at reducing disaster risks, opportunities for university-public cooperation, educational activities, joint projects, and applied field studies.

In particular, joint efforts that could be carried out between universities and AFAD on disaster preparedness, risk reduction strategies, education, and capacity building activities were discussed. Information was shared about the academic and applied activities carried out within AFAMER, and a consensus was reached on strengthening mutual cooperation.

The visit is expected to contribute to increasing institutional coordination in the field of disaster management and reflecting science-based studies in the field.
