Our school's Forestry Department organized an event to raise career awareness as part of the "Career Planning" course. The event, coordinated by the course instructor, Lecturer Betül Tahmaz, focused on the theme of "Career Planning and the Public Sector."
Ismail Demiralp, a Forest Guard at the Feke Forestry Management Directorate within the Adana Regional Forestry Directorate, participated as a guest speaker. Demiralp, also a graduate of the department, shared his knowledge and experience with students regarding duties and responsibilities in the forestry field within the public sector, professional experiences, career paths, and public sector recruitment processes.
The event covered topics such as the organizational structure of public institutions, employment opportunities in forestry, the development of professional qualifications, the KPSS (Public Personnel Selection Examination) process, and strategies for setting career goals. This contributed to students' more informed evaluation of post-graduation career options, their acquisition of knowledge about professional roles in the public sector based on direct field experience, and the shaping of their career plans towards concrete goals. Furthermore, the event enhanced students' professional motivation and provided them with the opportunity to directly interact with a practitioner working in the public sector.
The event was attended by Dr. Ergün Kahveci, Head of the Forestry and Forest Products Program at Niksar Vocational School, Betül Tahmaz, instructor of the Career Planning course, and students from the Forestry Department. The program concluded after a question-and-answer session.
