Training titled “Approaching Animals and First Aid for Animals” was provided to students of the Civil Defense and Firefighting Program in order to teach correct approaches and intervention methods for animals during disasters, fires, and other extraordinary situations.

The training was delivered by veterinarian Mustafa Eraslan, one of the prominent veterinary physicians of Niksar. During the session, Eraslan shared information about the general biological characteristics of animals and delivered a comprehensive presentation on techniques for approaching different animal species as well as first aid methods that can be applied in emergency situations.

Emphasizing that not only humans but also animals must be protected and properly assisted during disasters and emergencies, Eraslan highlighted the importance of rescue and response teams being able to recognize and understand animal behavior.

In the training, which was followed with great interest by the students, practical information about possible situations in the field was shared, and participants were also informed about safe approaches to animals and first aid practices without causing harm.

Program authorities stated that it is crucial for personnel who will take part in disaster and emergency response to know the correct intervention methods for both humans and animals. They also noted that such training activities, which contribute to the professional development of students, will continue in the future.
