As part of the ‘Forestry Maintenance’ and ‘Forest Ecology’ courses, conducted by Lecturer Betül Tahmaz from our school's Forestry Department, a comprehensive fieldwork was carried out on the campus grounds focusing on vegetation, soil characteristics, silvicultural maintenance practices, and seedling planting.
This practical application aimed to reinforce students' theoretical knowledge by observing the relationships between ecosystem components in situ. During the fieldwork, students examined plant species distributed in the campus area in terms of their morphological and ecological characteristics; they analyzed the habitat preferences, distribution patterns, and interactions with environmental factors of the species.
In addition, silvicultural maintenance measures and seedling planting activities were carried out as part of the field applications; the goal was to develop students' practical knowledge and skills.
This fieldwork contributed to increasing students' awareness levels regarding sustainable environmental management, ecosystem balance, and the conservation of biodiversity.
