An evaluation and consultation meeting was held with the administrative staff at our Niksar Vocational School, chaired by our Director, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatih Sobacı. During the meeting, where staff views and suggestions were heard, topics such as institutional operations, strengths, and areas for improvement were discussed. Progress made over the nearly three-year period since taking office was also reviewed in light of the goals set and expectations shared at the outset.
In addition to education and development activities—supported by an average of three events per week—collaborative partnerships established via protocols with stakeholders such as the Niksar Municipality, the Tokat Chamber of Certified Public Accountants, and Tokat AFAD were evaluated. Key achievements highlighted during this period included a 3-million-TL investment in the Electricity-Mechatronics Laboratory, the renovation of the tourism training facility, field training sessions, and the attainment of full four-year MEDEK accreditation for the Accounting and Tax Applications Program.
Activities that strengthen our school's ties with Niksar and enhance its contribution to society were also on the meeting agenda. It was noted that knowledge and experience in areas such as disaster and fire awareness, nature and forest consciousness, and financial literacy were shared with the community through events for students hosted on our campus and training sessions conducted at various institutions and schools. While the contribution of these efforts to our school's visibility and its relationships with educational institutions was emphasized, the 721,000 views our Instagram account garnered in the 30 days leading up to the meeting were also reviewed. Satisfaction was expressed regarding the visibility these education- and development-focused activities achieved beyond Niksar through social media. It was emphasized that the education and development of our students lie at the heart of all these initiatives, which impact individuals, families, nature, and the sector. Stress was placed on the importance of channeling time and effort into meaningful work and fulfilling responsibilities diligently, while avoiding unnecessary rhetoric and distractions. Highlighting the role of taking ownership of one’s work and respecting colleagues' efforts, the commitment to adding a “+1” value—for our students, our vocational school, and personal growth—every single day was reaffirmed.
During the meeting, which included a welcome to newly joined staff members, we commemorated with gratitude and respect the faculty members who served our school and university before passing away, as well as those who have continued their careers at other universities. Reflecting on the transient nature of roles and the enduring value of a positive legacy, the importance of continuing to work with the same conviction and motivation as on day one—without seeking external validation—was underscored.
It was emphasized that every successful outcome achieved was made possible through the efforts of colleagues who take ownership of their work and fulfill their responsibilities with care. Appreciation was expressed to everyone who contributed to these efforts, particularly our former Deputy Director Asst. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Çidem; our current Deputy Directors Asst. Prof. Dr. Ergün Kahveci and Asst. Prof. Dr. Emrah Eser; our School Secretary Pervin Dilek Koç; and all our academic and administrative staff who dedicated their time and effort to these endeavors.
